On the Hillside – Sharing the Journey – What are you Doing – March Newsletter.

March 27, 2020 - Author: Editor

Colossians 3:23-24 (nasb) – Whatever you do, do your work heartily,
as for the Lord rather than for men,
knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance.

“hunker down” Greetings,

So…what are you doing while you “hunker down”? Well, here is something to lighten your day and find out what God IS doing, check out our attached newsletter!

As we home school and work in a ‘critical’ service ministry…nothing much has changed to our “self-quarantined” family here in rural Alaska during the Pandemic. We understand that this is not true for millions of people and we recognize the opportunity that God is giving us to share His love to a hurting world. Philippians 2:3-4 encourages us to look out for others interests while we take care of our own. This is a way we can share with our neighbor the love our Heavenly Father has for us and the trust that we put in Him to meet all our need. I have had my share of short-lived moments of angst when I viewed the bare shelves at the stores – knowing that they may not fill for a while. However, those moments passed quickly when God reminded me that He will supply our needs and that we need to have compassion, just a Jesus had compassion. So … His peace reigns in our house as much as a house with 8 kids can be peaceful and we press on in the work He has prepared for us to do!

Remember to reach out to us when you can and share your prayers and praises that you want us to partner in. We love to hear from you, too! Enjoy reading the newsletter.

In His service,
Scott and Sarabeth Hill and family

Micah 6:8 (NASEC) – He has told you, O man, what is good;
And what does the LORD require of you
but to do justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?

NEW YEAR Greetings,

Check out our attached newsletter!

We wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and hope this Newsletter finds you and your family safe and warm! It is 21 below zero as I write this evening and we are grateful for a warm and cozy home to sleep in. I set up getting this letter out a week and a half ago but forgot to get it done and on its way. Maybe the cold weather slowed down my thinking…

God has been wonderful to us as we have been serving Him here at KCAM radio and we have much to thank Him for. Most of all, we thank God for you and your involvement and partnership without which we would not be here helping to keep the gospel on the air.

We have just started school again this week after a nice 2-week winter break and we had a wonderful time celebrating our Lord’s birthday! Remember to reach out to us when you can and share your prayers and praises that you want us to partner in. We love to hear from you, too! Enjoy reading the newsletter.

On the Hillside – Sharing the Journey – Keeping the Power up – Newsletter.

1Corinthians 4:20(NASEC) – For the kingdom of God does not consist in words but in power.

Summer Greetings,

Check out our attached newsletter!

19:46:57

19 hours, 46 minutes, and 57 seconds of daylight here in Glennallen, AK on Friday, June 21, the longest day of the year.  I was awake for all but about 2 hours of that sunshine. We have been enjoying mild weather through the spring with a lot more rain and humidity that I remember from before.  Nevertheless, it has been good weather for working on our outside projects and for Sarabeth’s gardening.

We want to say Thank You, once again, to all of you!  Thank you for reading these updates and remembering to pray for us and support God’s ministry here.  As it is with the electricity that keeps the radio station on the air, YOU are the conduit of God’s Love and power through prayer and financial support that helps accomplish His ministry here.  We really appreciate all of the partners that God has called and pray that you are blessed because of it!

This week a cold has ravaged through our entire family – hitting Sarabeth and I lastly this weekend.  I hope that this is the only one we endure this summer – especially having all 8 kids sick at the same time.  Please pray for rapid healing!  Remember to reach out to us when you can and share your prayers and praises that you want us to partner in.  We love to hear from you, too!  Enjoy reading the newsletter.

In His service,

Scott and Sarabeth Hill and family

On the Hillside – Sharing the Journey – Thanksgiving rumbles

November 30, 2018 - Author: Editor

Psalm 104:31 – 32(NASEC)

Let the glory of the Lord endure forever; Let the Lord be glad in His works; He looks at the earth, and it trembles; He touches the mountains, and they smoke.

Greetings from a shaken Glennallen, Alaska,

We thought we should put this first of December update out a bit early to inform you all that we are safe and unharmed and experienced only a long shaking this morning when the earthquake occurred at 8:29 am.  Our day had just barely begun.  I, Scott, was at the radio station working on getting the news computer working again so that we could get the stream of news that we normally receive.  But God planned it that I would be able to get it fixed just in time to receive the plethora of stories we would soon receive as Alaskans began to seek information on all the details of the quake.

Our coworker, Michelle Eastty, did an awesome job of staying on top of all our news sources and she did an excellent job of reporting it to the community as details became available.  It was quite a morning of watching how Alaska reacted to an earthquake.  It was another “first” for our children here on the field.  Michelle summarized what happened well in her email update “No damage here in the Copper River Valley, but it was a 7.0 magnitude earthquake centered just north of Anchorage, which is 189 miles southwest of Glennallen. Between Wasilla (150 miles from Glennallen) and Anchorage, many of the roads have huge cracks, so there are detours and traffic was backed up for miles. No injuries were reported, but there have been some fires and gas leaks. Some roofs caved in and police are warning residents about possible structural damage to homes.”

November has been a good month!  We very much enjoyed having the work team from Nebraska; they accomplished so much in such a short time.  We also enjoyed having the Eaton Grandparents around during that time also.  Scott is getting many projects finished and resurrected 2 more computers this past week that will help the stations continue to run a little smoother.  He is also enjoying getting familiar with ‘On Air’ operations in the broadcast studios again, though finding it to be a little more nerve wracking than he anticipated.    We were supposed to visit our Church in Anchorage this weekend, but have delayed that because of the earthquake.  This also means our monthly grocery trip is delayed as well….

Sarabeth continues to lead the kids in homeschooling and still finds time to make dinners, do the laundry, and take care of the family every day!  Kara just finished an Art class that was offered through the local school and Matthew just began getting tutoring in Spanish through the homeschool assistance program also.  We celebrated Elaina and Sarabeth’s birthdays and enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving in our new home!  God is good!!!

Thank you for being a part of what God is doing in our lives as we serve Him here in Alaska, we are grateful to our God for the team He has called together to help KCAM stay on the air broadcasting the Good News to the Copper River Valley.  Please let us hear from your world in how God is answering prayer and working in your lives.

In His service,

Scott and Sarabeth Hill and family
