Journal Entry 10/2/2018 – Together on the Journey – Alaska Arrival and settling in

October 2, 2018 - Author: Editor

Matthew 6:31 (NASEC)
[31] “Do not worry then, ….. for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.[33] “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
[34] “So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

Greetings from Glennallen, Alaska,

3,838 miles traveled with – no flat tires, no engine trouble, no delays at the borders, good weather for driving, and A God who blessed our socks off!  The verses above are good reminders not to worry about anything that we “need” because we have a God that KNOWS!  Therefore, if we know that He knows, we are free to seek His kingdom.  Thank you for your many prayers and support that helped to make the trip possible and the mission field attainable.

We hit the ground running from our arrival on the evening of Thursday, September 27…unpacking the trailers in a day and a half and then getting everything set up and figuring out what was still needed over the next few days.  At the same time, we were working on establishing utilities, getting driver’s licenses and plates, planning a trip to Anchorage, and attending the first night of Awana on Wednesday.  Seven days later, Thursday, we were off to Anchorage for our first stocking up trip that ended up being 4 days long, ugh!  It is nice to know that God knew already what we needed and had things already planned.

Today, Tuesday Oct. 2, was Scott’s first official day at KCAM!  It is Sharathon time at the radio stations next Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, so he is getting familiar with how things work and flow in the studios so he can take some shifts on air during the fundraiser.  Many engineering tasks need some immediate attention as well, so his time will not be idly spent.  Today, as well, Sarabeth baked the first loaves of bread in our humble abode!  This has filled the air with wonderful smells as she is creating our home and settling us in.

Please remember our prayer requests here and to send us your prayer requests as well.  Pray for Sharathon – that it would, first, Glorify God and the work that He is doing; second, that we would meet the goal; and third, that we would have a wonderful time of outreach and fellowship with our listeners!  Please pray for Sarabeth as she finishes settling in and begins a new school year with the kids.  PRAISE the LORD for His great provision and care for us on the many miles traveled and for giving us a home to be in out of the cold.

THANK YOU FOR SHARING THE JOURNEY!

In His service,
Scott and Sarabeth Hill and family

Journal Entry 9/17/18 – Together on the Journey – A Quick Update

September 15, 2018 - Author: Editor

And my God will (DID!) supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Phil 4:19

Canadian Greetings,

What an awesome God we serve!  Thank you for your prayers as we travel the long road to Alaska.  We thought we would be able to slow down just a bit and spend some time camping along the way, but the temperatures and weather have already dropped below tolerance, especially for our youngest.  So our timetable has been adjusted accordingly…we entered Canada yesterday without a glitch, currently in Lethbridge.  Praise the Lord for an inexpensive hotel with a waterpark!  Since we are not going to be camping as much as we had planned, the expenses of travel are going to be a little bit higher so if anyone is willing to help with filling up our outgoing expenses account, it will be much appreciated.  Last we knew, we were $2500 short of the goal.

Our schedule now will, Lord willing, put us into Glennallen 4 days earlier than we expected, arriving on Thursday September 20.  Thank you for remembering us in prayer for safety in travel – especially through the snow that is already falling in Canada.

By the way, we had a wonderful time in Carey Idaho visiting our church there that we had not seen for 16 years.  It was truly a blessing from God that we could fellowship with His family there, somewhat like the future of all believers!

In His service,

Scott and Sarabeth Hill and family

Journal Entry 8/17/18 – Together on the Journey – HAVE YOU been praying for us?

August 28, 2018 - Author: Editor

(Originally emailed 8/17/2018)

And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Phil 4:19

Howdy Y’all!  Texas Greetings,

HAVE YOU been praying for us?  I am a bit afraid that you are even now praying for us!!  Afraid?!?  Yes, because God is on the move in a mighty way!!!  When God’s people pray, we hope to see an answer, but when He answers, sometimes it is not what we expect.  Sometimes His answer includes us in the solution because we prayed.  If I pray for God to “help my unbelief” (Mk 9:23-24), He might very well put me in a situation where only He can provide the solution, thereby increasing my faith in Him.  Take heart!  He is doing that very thing NOW for you and for us!!!  This last week He has been adding partners into our fellowship that have increased the prayer support, financial support and OUR Faith in Him.  As of today, Friday, we have 99.9% of our monthly need pledged and we have had over half of our project funds donated.  We are so very excited that He has been working toward completing our Home Service and is about to take us to the field.  Our departure date to head north to Alaska has been set for September 5th, 2018!!!!!

I, Scott, said that I am afraid, but I think it is more that I am intrepid.  When I realized that God was completing His initial answer to our prayers and wrapping up this time of our family’s life, I was suddenly faced with the reality of another major change in our “routine”.  As I get older, I am coming to grips with how much more I resist changing gears after finally settling into the current one.  I think that we just got used to traveling and visiting again and accepting that this was what God wanted for us, but we knew that this was not the end goal (2 Timothy 1:8-14), we have a much higher calling.

Home Service is a time for us to give the Body of Christ an opportunity to share in what God is doing.  By following us in reading these emails, Praying for us, visiting with us, partnering with us financially, and sharing your lives and God’s testimonies – YOU have become a part of what God is doing in this ministry and I pray that God would let you share in the blessings as we move together to Alaska.

If God has prompted you to take advantage of this opportunity in ministry by sharing financially and you have not yet acted on it, now is a good time to help us finish our Home Service well.  A long time ago, I came across these statistics for aiming at getting things done 99.9% of the time:  Only 16,000 pieces of mail would be lost by the U.S. Post Office … every hour; 20,000 drug prescriptions would be improperly filled each week; 32,000 checks would be deducted from the wrong bank account each hour; and we would only have one hour of unsafe drinking water each month.  Can you help put us at 100% of our monthly need or help us fulfill our remaining $5,000 need in the project funds (includes travel to the field and will help in furnishings like kids bed’s and a washer and dryer)?  Thank you!  WE know that God will complete what He started, we are seeing Him work even as we write this email.

Our schedule:

Aug. 18 – Depart Dallas, TX to Houston, TX
Aug. 19 – Worship The Lord with friends at Cypress Bible Church in Houston, TX
Aug. 21 – Depart Houston, TX traveling to Austin, TX area (Georgetown)
Aug. 23 – Travel to Sierra Vista
Sept. 5 – Begin our travel North to Alaska!

In His service,
Scott and Sarabeth Hill and family
