Welcome Benjamin Daniel!

Benjamin at home

Benjamin Daniel Hill joined our family on January 25 at 1:44 pm.  He was 8 lbs. 9 oz., 21 inches and is already growing like a weed.  Now three months old, he is a very alert little boy who loves to smile at and talk to Mommy and Daddy.  From the beginning Benjamin has shown a preference for being with Daddy.  His older brothers and sisters are quite fascinated with him. Caleb and Kara seem especially taken with him and love to hold him and play with him.

New Address

Living on the Arizona/New Mexico border right next to the Navajo reservation has proven to be an interesting challenge for getting mail.  Depending on how something is shipped we have 4 different addresses, none of which are officially recognized.      We are getting our mail on a regular basis though and finally have a personal address:

A New Ministry

We hit the ground running here at Western Indian Ministries (WIM) in Tse Bonito, NM; arriving only days before Christmas, just in time for the staff Christmas party.  Right away we saw confirmation that this was where God wanted us as He used contacts Scott has made over the years to bless the ministry here with a donation of used equipment from the Clear Channel Radio Corporation in Denver, Colorado.   The donation will help modernize and bring the radio studios into the 21st century.  This equipment, which was originally worth over a million dollars, will be used to replace studio systems and update them to newer digital transmission methods; that is, after the equipment can be inventoried, distributed, and installed.  This donation also benefits the two radio stations we were with in Alaska since that was the original destination, but they did not need very much of it.

The installation of these new consoles, audio routers, and control interfaces is a major step towards the goal of automating more of the daily tasks of broadcasting.  By creating a more localized content through automation, the limited staff will be freed up to focus on producing and finding solid biblical, informational, and entertaining programming that meets the needs of each of the stations’ listening audience.  Thanks for praising The Lord with us for providing more than we ask for.

Another exciting event since our arrival has been the re-launching of WIM’s third station in Tuba City (about 3 hours west of us) which has been off the air for about a year.  Praise the Lord that His word is once again being broadcast in this spiritually dark place.

Our growing family…

We are slowly, but surely settling in to our new ‘temporary’ home here in New Mexico.  They had an unusually cold winter here (an unheard of -20 degrees several nights) and we joked that it was because we were unpacking boxes and letting out some Alaskan air.  Matthew celebrated his 8th birthday at the beginning of January.  He is enjoying having his friend Aaron close by for regular playdates and sleepovers.  Lydia (6) is glad to once again have her ‘own’ bed and all of her stuffed animals.   She is especially enjoying the music classes at the Christian school here in which the three older kids are able to participate.  They don’t even have to leave the house since the school’s music room used to be the garage of the house in which we are living.  Kara (4) is our tomboy princess; she loves to run and climb, but prefers dresses to pants. Caleb just turned 3 years old and is enjoying having the school playground as our front yard.  He and his siblings have been taking advantage of the great weather here to spend a lot of time outside.  Sarabeth has recovered well from the pregnancy and is thankful Benjamin has started sleeping through the night.  He is a fairly good baby overall and is already reaching for his toys.  Scott is keeping quite busy working towards upgrading the 3 radio stations here.  He has also been helping to train the new staff at KRSA in Petersburg via the phone and internet.
