Java Cool Software just released Spyware Blaster 4.0

For a good 1-2 punch against these hooligans that attempt to hand your identity out on a platter to whomever likes 'cookies' I recomend the pairing of Spybot Search and Destroy freeware developed by Safer Networking (download from them) and Spyware Blaster freeware from Java Cool Software (download from them). These two programs are passive and basically help you immunize against threats on the net. They both have regular updates and also have a subscription update service as well if you would rather pay to have it automatically done.

When installing Spybot S&D I would recomend unchecking the install of their 'Teatimer' resident program as it will nag you about everything you do. Be sure to keep this program updated and immunize your computer as often as you update the program.

Spywareblaster just immunizes against ActiveX threats and you need to be sure that you click on the "Enable all protection" in the program.
