Greetings!

August 16, 2013 - Author: Scott Hill

Oh My! Where did Summer go?!?  Even nature seems to be wrapping up here in the high desert of New Mexico as the temperatures have plummeted to the mid 60’s at night.  Our Monsoon season came early this year (July instead of August) so we may end up with a wonderful “Indian Summer” this Fall.

Western Indian Ministries celebrated its 75th anniversary and Bible conference (July 25-27).  It was a busy time and a wonderful time of remembering the past, rejoicing in the present, and peeking at the future of what God might be doing through this mission.  We had a few less people than anticipated, but still quite a good crowd – the rains washed out the outdoor fun day though.  What we heard from the people that were involved with the mission from many years ago was a great testimony to God’s faithfulness and blessing and gave a better understanding into why He is not done with ministry in this area yet!

Radio is in the planning stages for our annual Sharathon (October 3-5th).  Please pray that we would make the time to get all our ducks in a row and that God would be glorified through it.  The bookstore continues to take up a lot of Scott’s time, please pray that He can get back to engineering soon.  Thanks for remembering the ministry and family in your daily prayers.

Mid-Summer Greetings!

July 19, 2013

Our Home school year is finally coming to a close here in the Hill house.  Sarabeth has been working through putting curriculum together for the next year that will start in early August – Matthew is going into 5th grade!  The kids get really excited when their new books arrive in the mail and they seem to be unable to wait to get started (that just seems a little odd to me, but I guess that is good).

Western Indian Ministries celebrates its 75th anniversary this month with a Bible conference for 3 days (July 25-27).  We are anticipating quite a crowd here as those dates approach.  You can view some more information about what is going on at the website westernindian.org.

Radio continues to go fairly well as we have added additional local programing this month by extending our “Navajo hour” through to 9pm daily.  This is stretching the limits of the current computer automation systems, so one of my priorities is to get back to installing the new software that will help with this.  Thank you for praying for the ministry of broadcasting here – we still see many lives that are touched daily as they call in or come by the Bookstore.

Beginning of June Update….

June 10, 2013 - Author: Scott Hill

Friends!

Well, after having my Laptop die 2 months ago, I think I have finally recovered my regular data again on this borrowed computer and am able to do this short note once again.  After my April note went out I had the opportunity to attend the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) convention once again and this year was able to attend the entire Broadcast engineering conference.  This was a great time to learn, make connections, and research the latest technologies in broadcasting.  It takes Marc Guiett (our other engineer/Technician) and me almost an entire year to fully digest everything we learn and see at this conference, but it is a great way to continue our education.   We also made several trips over the last 2 months to Tuba City (KTBA) to work on our station there.

Not everything was totally mission related though, our entire family was able to go down to Huachuca City to help celebrate Scott’s parent’s 50th wedding anniversary.  It was good to get out of town for a little over a week, as we took some vacation in Phoenix after that at the beginning of May.  The first week in June is filled with work teams arriving and this will continue through the middle of August – please pray for safety and efficiency.  As Always, Thank you so much for partnering with us in what God is about.

Computer Mayhem

April 15, 2013 - Author: Sarabeth Hill

What an interesting month we have had here!  I have never seen such a rash of major computer issues among the missionaries, pastors and office.  Radio engineer to the rescue – I put on the IT support cap and have worked through around ten computers – one system took 6 days just to extract data from the hard drive!  To end it all – my personal laptop just simply stopped – no good explanation, except that I had just finished filing my taxes, gone to bed, and next morning, zero response!  So…I am 10 for 11 systems, not too bad, Praise the Lord!

We are drawing near to the end of our spring work groups this month.  It has been a real blessing to have several work teams begin the summer projects on repair and refurbishing of some major buildings here on campus.  Please be in prayer for the many teams that are coming this summer to help out and also minister to people on the Rez.  The mission is gearing up for a big 75th Anniversary celebration and Bible conference in July (25-27), it will be a time of reflection, direction, & Celebration;  if you happen to be around please plan on joining us.  Thank you so much for your time, support and prayer for us.
