Greetings to our Partners in ministry!

March 15, 2013 - Author: Sarabeth Hill

Every day is filled with the ebb and flow of God at Work around here, some days it is hard to get even the routine things done.  Praise the Lord that He continually challenges and uses us to accomplish His ministry here.  It has only been 4 weeks since our weekend Strategic Planning Retreat, where many of us including a couple of our board members and the local church pastor got together for a time of prayer and seeking God’s direction for the future of this 75 year old mission.  It was truly a blessing to be able to see and hear the many points of view that were represented there and to hear the heart of many in their desire to follow where ever God is leading.  The first fruits of this time were clearly evident within days of coming home as one Navajo couple came back from this and told our director that they had been committed before, but were now willing to surrender to God’s call and direction in their involvement with Western Indian Ministries.  I should have said at the beginning – CAUTION!! God at Work!!  He has rarely revealed more than just the next step to take in His plan for us – this is sometimes frustrating for me personally, but reinforces the need for faith and patience.  WE all have to keep our senses on alert to be ready for His next move.  Please pray that we would develop a spiritual peripheral vision that keeps us tuned in to His directions at all times.

Winter Greetings!

February 15, 2013 - Author: Sarabeth Hill

Thank you so much for sharing in this area of ministry as we follow our Leader wherever He may go.  It was one year ago that the Broadcast division of Western Indian Ministries stepped out in faith to start a little Christian bookstore.  Praise the Lord that He has used it in so many wonderful ways to help spread His word in Navajo and English across the Rez and to supply His people with study material and guides to help them grow closer to Him.  We are still a small operation, but it has been very steady and busy, keeping us on our toes.  To date the most sold items are Navajo Bibles and Navajo Hymnals.  The bookstore has been an awesome way for us to get to know our Listeners, to pray for them and to share life directly with them – Thank you for all of you who donated to this project and continue to pray for its outreach.

Please also pray for the Broadcast division as we are considering programming changes in the coming month (such as adding more local Navajo hours in the evenings and overnight and less Satellite fill).  Pray for wisdom and discernment as we seek to meet our listener’s needs.  Thank You!

Winter Greetings Newsletter

February 11, 2013 - Author: Scott Hill

Winter Greetings,

Our latest newsletter is on its way.  We seem to be enjoying a little cooler and more wet winter than last year here in New Mexico, guess that is good for the water supply!  Hope that you will enjoy a good time with God’s Valentine greetings to us in His word this week.

As you read this letter and go into the coming weekend, please remember us and the rest of the team here as we spend a couple of days next Monday and Tuesday in a Strategic Planning Retreat.  We have had a new General Director for about 5 months now, and he is getting us together to pray and seek God’s direction for Western Indian Ministries.  Pray that we would have open eyes to see where God is at work, open hearts to follow Him in His work, and willingness to be one in Spirit with Him as we move forward in His guidance.  The Mission is celebrating 75 years this summer and there are so many that still need to hear the good news here on the Rez.  It is an exciting and intrepid time as we are seeing God reform and give new life to this ministry.

We are truly blessed to have you on our team as God continues to confirm His call for us to be ministering here with Western Indian Ministries, thank you for your continued support and prayer.

In His service,

Scott and Sarabeth Hill

…-if anything is excellent or praiseworthy–think about such things Philippians 4:8

What an awesome thing it has been to be a part of the fluid dynamics of a mission being re-born by God’s hand, we can see Him at work all around us!  Just recently we heard from a local Navajo Christian businessman that had gone to Israel with the President of the Navajo Nation and he mentioned that he would be meeting with President Ben Shelly to present him with a Bible.  I offered to let him take one of the Navajo Bibles from the bookstore as well to present to him, and the president accepted it gratefully.  Please pray that God would use this as a tool for His glory in the Navajo Nation – the local businessman has now been asked to mentor the President in understanding God’s word.

The family is doing well, busy with home school and feeling a little bit of cabin fever.  We have had the usual struggles with various sickness, vehicle maintenance, and keeping the house warm in minus 20 degrees, but God is taking care of us through your support and prayers
