Journal Entry 5/30/18 – together on the Journey – A Long Week

May 30, 2018 - Author: Editor

Greetings,

It has been a long week.  This past Saturday we ended up having to take our 2 year old Thomas to the ER for dehydration due to a viral stomach bug that made him lose a lot of water in various ways and it was hard to force him to take any liquids.  Praise the Lord Thomas cooperated as best he could while being poked and prodded – 6 hours on an IV to get water and sugar into him and he is doing much better.  This mean little stomach bug is slowly making its way through other members of the family and neighbors.  Thank you for your continued prayer for our health.

Praise the Lord, He has given us good news to give to you in this email update!  We are up to 66% of our needed financial support – this is lower than last update, but we jumped the gun and have finally worked things out with KCAM as to our actual level of support needed.  Part of the confusion is that some have pledged and are missing in action (MIA).  If KCAM does not receive either a pledge card or see a consistent giving pattern they cannot count it as support for us.  If you need the documents, you can find and download them on our website under our support page (http://www.scottandsarabeth.com/?page_id=30 ).

We are going to be speaking at Passages Christian Church in Phoenix this June 3rd, doing a 5 to 10 minute presentation in the morning services and a meet and greet afterward.  Please pray for our traveling, ministering, and fellowshipping with this new church.

You’ll soon receive our May newsletter after this email update so keep an eye out for it.

Thank You for sharing in our journey!

In His service,

The Hill Family

Journal Entry 5/11/18 – together on the Journey – Putting hands back on the plow

May 19, 2018 - Author: Editor

Greetings,

It is hard getting back to the ‘normal’ routine of life after we lose a loved one.  That is probably an understatement of reality for the Hill family after the passing on of my mother Carol, because like most people, life itself continues on without us and we have to play catchup.  First off, I want to say a huge THANK YOU to all of you for your love and support during this time of grieving.  THANK YOU also for the flowers, condolences, and cards that shared memories of my Mom, some memories I knew about and some that were a revelation to me of her.  THANK YOU most of all for your prayers to our Heavenly Father on my family’s behalf, I believe that the process was very God honoring and pleasing to Him who is more than ABLE!  Praise the Lord!

Praise the Lord, He has given us good news to give to you in this email update!  We are up to 71% of our needed financial support this week – God was always at work while we took time off!  Our planning was interrupted, so we are ramping back up yet again and planning our visitation travels.  We will send out an update when we have solidified our schedule.

Meanwhile, we want to remind everyone that has already pledged to support us financially to get a pledge card into Joy Media for their records.  One of the reasons we did not leave with our stuff at the end of April to Alaska was because Joy Media did not have the same records as we did nor had they seen any donations come in from a few people that we told them had pledged.  If you need the documents, you can find and download them on our website under our support page (http://www.scottandsarabeth.com/?page_id=30 ).

Obviously, our lives are in God’s hands.  He is comforting us and guiding our paths back to the Alaska Field and we look forward to continuing our service there as soon as He allows, but for now we have His work here to continue.

Thank You for sharing in our journey!

In His service,

The Hill Family

Journal Entry – together on the Journey – How fast Life Changes!

April 23, 2018 - Author: Editor

2 days ago my mother Carol Hill past from this life into the next peacefully in her sleep.  We are sad and at the same time glad, for we knew that she claimed Jesus as Lord and Savior of her life.  Thank you to all those that have shared with us in your kind comments, concerns, and offers of help in this time of grief for the Hill family.  We will Celebrate her life in Christ and lay her body to rest on May 1st in Arizona.

How rapidly God works sometimes when we least expect it.  I thought our life was upside down when I watched our brother James take the majority of our stuff away to Alaska without us.  We were set to hunker down here in Nebraska as our home base and finish raising support, but that all changed on Saturday.  We are now pulling up stakes and moving our mobile Embassy to Arizona as we hope to be help to my father Bill Hill during this time, and, well, I just can’t say no to God.  We had at least 4 direct incidents on Saturday that both Sarabeth and I believed God was speaking very loudly to us.  He is even putting details of our departure together as I write this update.  So what we thought was going to be a few weeks round trip through Texas, Arizona and New Mexico, has turned out to be a one way, pack it all up, straight to family in Arizona trip.

We leave this Thursday Lord willing.  We had a wonderful time of wrapping up with the wonderful church here this past Sunday, the kids got to attend the final Awana last week and Matthew will be able to attend the final youth group meeting this Wednesday to say his goodbyes.  God has a such an awesome way of tying up things!

Can you see God working in our lives?

Prayer:  for Safety in travel, for smoothness in travel, for a God honoring funeral, for strength to take advantage of divine appointments, for good time with family and friends, for more pledges of financial support so we can GO!

Praises: for God’s peace in the midst of the storm, our belongings made it to Alaska safely, for a wonderful family that has given us this temporary Embassy!

In His service,

The Hill Family

Journal Entry – together on the Journey – How God got us there!

April 19, 2018 - Author: Editor

Today, 4-19-18, our Suburban and 14 foot trailer full of most of our worldly belongings left for Alaska without us!?!!

The last 2 weeks have been a flurry of busyness, emotional highs and lows, spiritual encouragement, and a whole lot of learning to Trust and Wait on our God in whose hands we are in.  His loving arms embracing everyone we encounter, using us as vessels of His testimonies of what He IS doing in the lives of those who love Him.  We are both recipients of His love and witnesses of His work in others.

Two weekends ago it was our hope that it would be time to take our final trip and head up north to Alaska.  We thought that we were ready to be sent, but God instead has sent our stuff ahead of us and made us more mobile, clearing out some extra weight (15,000 lbs. of it!).  Whatever the reason He has… I, Scott, feel more like a gypsy than ever before.  He has allowed our stuff to go, but not us, yet.  On the other hand, we can be even more certain now that He is calling us to Alaska!

Two weekends ago (April 6-8) was the first Missions Conference we have attended in many years and it was an awesome demonstration of how God is working all around the world.  We were reminded once again how The Church (all of Christ’s followers) is supposed to be proclaiming the Good News of Jesus Christ to everyone we meet.  Proclaim it to kids in our back yard (Jerusalem), to our communities where we live (Judea and Samaria), and to those that are traveling around the world (the remotest parts).  It was a very encouraging time and we enjoyed meeting and fellowshipping with new missionaries.

Last week was filled then with Sarabeth’s Brother James arriving and working on our Suburban’s front suspension and prepping it for him to take to Alaska.  What a blessing to have a brother that is a very skilled mechanic.  We ended the week on Friday with an enjoyable presentation with a small group at the pastor’s house.

Please pray for more opportunities to share what God is doing in our lives and what He has called us to.  Pray also for Him to raise up prayer and financial partners so that we can meet the financial need of $6500/month.  The Joy Media board and KCAM Radio desperately would like to have us there, but also want us to be able to concentrate on meeting the need that we have been called to fulfill.  Discovering Partners in ministry needs to be fully complete before we get busy with our field ministry.

In His service,

The Hill Family
